The Best (and Easiest) Lima Beans You'll Ever Eat

Creamed Lima Beans

I grew up eating these year-round. My granddad grew limas, and he would freeze them for year-round.

In my house, this serves one - me.


2 cups fresh lima beans

2 tablespoons butter

¾ cup half and half

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper


  • Blanch lima beans in boiling salted water until just tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  • In a medium saucepan, add the butter and half and half.

  • Add lima beans, salt, and pepper to the pan and cook over medium heat.

  • Using the back of a wooden spoon, slightly smash the limas, and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
